June 2016

 We were ready for June and summer to start!

This girl can't seem to stay out of the fridge!! I thought it was cute that she was trying to pour some milk... Not sure why she thought she should pour it in the easel though! Thank goodness she can't open the milk yet!!

We have a tradition of going to the local movie theaters summer movies with Brandi and her kids. Afterwards one day we decided to go have a picnic at grandpas pond. My mom had a bunch of left over buns from a Crosby reunion she had put together the same weekend we had been in Delta helping with the roof.  The buns were going stale so she told us to take those and feed the ducks!  The kids loved it!  Timber didn't quite get it and was mostly eating her buns but once the ducks got really close she finally did start throwing some in to the ducks too.

Logan got baptized the first weekend in June!  Since he was getting baptized in his dad's ward we decided to get up a little early and head to Kneaders for breakfast with Ben's parents.  Ben had gone with the scouts after Baptism's for the Dead a few weeks before and was raving about how good their french toast was.  He actually convinced them to let him bring one french toast home for me to try, it was good, but basically cold by the time I was able to try it.  So the real, freshly made thing was just as amazing as he had said!!  We had found a recipe for the syrup online and had made that at home before this (in fact that was what he brought for the Father's and Sons breakfast.)  Even the kids ate theirs pretty well!  Although I think they liked the strawberries on whip cream on top the best haha!  After breakfast we headed over to the baptism.  It was a little bitter sweet for me.  We were very excited that he had chosen to get baptized, especially since half the time he is going to the Jehovah Witness church, but it was kind of sad that he didn't have very much support from our side of the family.  Ben's parents and us were the only ones that came.  Joslyn did come to the luncheon after but, her and Tyson didn't feel like they should be at the baptism since they don't believe in it.  Tyson and his kids didn't come to the luncheon either.

We love when we find new hair styles that turn out cute!  This is one of my favorites in her hair now!

Ben's parents got their pool set up!  This picture cracks me up, because of the lighting it kind of looks like Timber is licking Ben's chest!

As you can see Aspen was still just as timid as she was last year with their pool.  She would scream if we tried to put her in it, and the couple of times we did get her in and convinced her to stop screaming she would still be shaking, even though we were holding her and she would usually have a life jacket too!

Jenny invited us to go camping for an annual friend reunion on Kolob.  This was year number 1!  And if you know Kolob at all, you can tell this isn't there.  She planned it for the second week in June and as it got closer, the weather got worse.  Kolob was looking like it was supposed to be stormy so a day before we were heading to go we changed the place to Caliente NV, they have a state park Kershaw-Ryan just outside of town.  The other couple that was going live in Panaca, which is about an half hour away from where we camped.  This was our first time meeting the other couple their names are Doug and Megan and they have a little girl that was just a little younger than Timber (you can see her in the bottom corner of the picture above.)  Doug's friend was able to get us a deal on the camp ground and we lucked out and were basically the only ones there!  It was nice having a bathroom right there close and still have our privacy to get to do what we want!  In the picture above is J.D., Jenny's hubby, and behind the boys is Doug and Megan's camper.

We brought Ben's parents tent trailer (you can see if above) and J.D. and Jenny brought a trailer.  We went to a park the was just a little ways up this canyon and did a nature hunt (Jenny had brought that and a couple other things to entertain the kiddos with.)  It was a really cute park and very green compared to where we were camping!  It was almost like we were in the middle of a jungle!  I was terrible and didn't take many pictures, all these were an afterthought so that I would at least have some of the trip!  Later that day we also went back to Panaca to go swimming in a reservoir there.  I kept looking around trying to figure out why that reservoir looked familiar to me and why the town of Panaca sounded familiar to me.  So I called my dad and it turned out that's the way we would go visit Grandma Terry in Ely and we had stopped several times at that reservoir to swim!  It was pretty cool finding that out and getting to share that with my kids, although they are a bit young to care or even think it was very cool that I had swam there as a kid.  Aspen was being timid about this water too and would really just did her toes in then mostly played on the rocks around it instead.  We hadn't paid very good attention and she had taken her shoes off while climbing on them and ended up stepping on some glass and cut the bottom of her foot.  Right as she did that, the rain that we had been trying to avoid on Kolob hit us!  So we hurried and got out, got Aspen's foot cleaned up and headed back to our camp ground where we played games in Jenny's trailer while the kids watched movies.  We ended up finding out later that Kolob didn't get any of the rain it was supposed to have gotten, it all followed us instead, haha!  We still had a great time even though we got rained on quite a bit!  With the rain a few toads came out, which was very entertaining to watch Jenny jump from, I don't think I have ever met anyone that's afraid of toads!  We all took turns with meals and we all brought a game or entertainment of some kind.  Brandi had helped my mom with the reunion she did and found a game where you tape candy to saran wrap then wad it up in a ball, tape it, then do a few layers of the candy taped saran wrap.  Then for the game you try to get as much candy as you can out of the ball before the next person rolls doubles with dice, then they grab the ball and start trying to get candy while the next person grabs the dice.  Luckily we did it when Timber and Monty (Jenny's youngest) were napping.  The older 3 kids played around the camp ground or watched us for some of it, and Megan and Doug's baby got a bit terrified of us all as she got passed around too!  It was pretty entertaining!

This is Dawson (Jenny's oldest) and Hunter, they are only a couple weeks apart in age and got along pretty well.  They have seen each other a time or two besides this.  And The little tuft of blond hair at the bottom of the picture above is the only picture I have of Aspen for this trip!  Fail!

Hunter and Dawson were loving the hills next to the camp ground and kept going sliding down them.  Well they had just been going up a little ways then sliding down them, well we hadn't heard or seen them for a little bit so we went looking and they were clear up this mountain!  The tiny blue dot near the center of the picture is Dawson, and the slide that you can see coming down the middle of the picture is where Hunter had slid down.  Watching them go up this made us all pretty nervous, all of that is very loose rock, we kept worrying they were going to cause quite the landslide.  It was especially nerve racking when Hunter was above Dawson, we didn't want him to knock a bunch of rocks down on him!

Here they are at the bottom of their "slide" Hunter is in the bright orange shirt.  They apparently thought it was awesome, but we made sure to explain why they wouldn't be allowed to do it again!

Hunter continued to do the smaller "slides" and by the end of the day his shorts were barely shorts anymore!  Nice and dirty and very holey!

Ben had a softball tournament so we had to leave earlier than everyone else.  We got there Wednesday evening and left Friday afternoon.  It was a fun friend reunion and we look forward to next year... which I think Ben volunteered to be in charge of... unless Jenny just told us we were... Some how we got put in charge of next year!!

Ben's parents watched our kids for us one day and we got these cute pictures of them having a great time with Grandma and Grandpa!

Brandi went to girls camp so I helped watch her kids one of the days she was gone and Mike was at work.  I got to be there when Talee lost her first tooth!  It was a pretty exciting day for her!

I can't remember what we took this trip up north for but I couldn't help laughing at this!  I brought matching PJ's for the girls and thought I had handed Aspen hers, well when she came out like this it was clear I had handed her Timber's!  I'm impressed she was able to get them on!!

We decided we better test the boat out before we took it to Delta, so we had a family night trip out to Sand Hollow.  Aspen likes the water much better when she can gradually get in and only has to get in as far as she wants!

she could!  She was still pretty unstable walking so anytime waves would hit her she would fall back down, and just start scooting in further!
