Projects

I am horrible about ever finishing projects I start. Quite often I buy all the stuff to do something and either never finish it or it takes me years to finally finish it, but lately I've been project crazy! Here's what I've done:

I had so many headbands and bows that I decided I needed something to put them all on, so I made this. I really like how it turned out.

Here it is with some bows and headbands on it.

I made this car seat cover for my friend that had her baby a couple days before me. It was her very late baby shower present since I was on bed rest when she had the shower.

This picture shows the inside, not sure if you can tell but it has little pink polka dots on it.

And I made this one for my friends baby shower that was yesterday. The inside is just plain brown.

This is a blanket (it's folded up) that I made for me. We are headed to Delta for the 4th of July, they have an awesome demolition derby we go to every year. It goes on kind of long so I figured I most likely will end up having to feed Aspen while we are there. I have a nursing cover but figured people in the seats above me would probably be able to see down into it too since I can, so didn't want to use that. All my blankets are either pretty small or nice and fluffy so they would be hot. So this is a big light weight blanket! I usually try not to feed her in public places it really embarrasses me but you have to park so far away and then wait for her to eat, so I'd end up missing probably half of the derby if I go to the car. I have seen plenty of people that don't even cover up, they are crazy! So at least I'm making sure I'm completely covered.

This just makes me smile! Picking her nose and sucking her fingers all at once!!

Aspen's New Loves

I can not believe how fast she is learning new things!! I don't remember it going so fast with Hunter. She has 2 new found loves and I love them both! Here is the first:

She has been a finger/fist sucker since the beginning, but I think she finally decided which ones she like best! She still will get other fingers in there sometimes but she only sucks on them for a few seconds then bites them a couple times then is done, but when she gets these two... Amazing things happen! The other night I woke up with a start and looked at the clock wondering why she hadn't woken up yet. Then I heard it she was sucking on her fingers, so I figured she would want to nurse any minute but decided to just lay there til she did. Several minutes passed and she still hadn't cried out so I went to the bathroom, still nothing. I went to check on her and it was still too dark to see her so I felt her to see what fingers (or if she had her thumb) she had, and felt that it was those 2. She had her eyes closed so I decided I would just lay back down til she was ready. I ended up falling back to sleep for and hour and a half, which made it 8 hours that she slept! And most nights since then have been about that long, I'm loving it!

Her second love is to talk! First thing when she wakes up in the mornings is to give me big smiles and start cooing at me! She even has a rough time nursing quite often because she is wanting to talk! I finally got some video of it (she usually stops right when she sees the camera and stares at it instead) but I can't figure out how to get it loaded on here. I got it on the computer (for some reason the sound wasn't playing though) but it wouldn't let me load it on here (I was going to load it and see if the sound would work once it was on here) so sorry you don't get to see and hear it, it's WAY cute!!

She laughed for the first time today. It was to me making a hoarse laughing sound, she did it twice in a row then wouldn't do it again, so I didn't get any footage of that.

We spent the weekend in Kanab, while Ben and my brother played in a softball tournament in Page (a beat the heat tournament where they play during the night then sleep during the day then play more the next night.) They started Friday night and didn't get back to Kanab until 5:30 Sunday morning. Ben was exhausted he kept going in and out of sleep all day! It was pretty funny! He usually can't take naps at all and he had several!

Hunter is a trouble maker as usual, but we still love him! He fought bed time at my parents, he does at home too, but since the room we were staying in was downstairs he was able to be a lot sneakier about getting out of bed. The second night he even ended up taking his jammies off and pooping on the floor! Luckily for me the carpet in the room is all torn out cuz the water heater flooded and ruined it. Their was a spare piece of the old carpet left in the doorway, which is what he pooped on so I just threw it away instead of trying to clean it. He hasn't done this for a long time so it really frazzled me! I also realized tonight that he is holding his poop in for another excuse to get out of bed. We always have him go to the bathroom in the potty before he gets in the bath (which he is really good about but still won't go any other time of the day) and he ended up going #2 in the toilet tonight. Then about 5 minutes after I put him in his room he came out cuz he was poopy. What a stinker! I don't know how to fix this excuse cuz I had told him to try to go more while he was on the potty and he said no he was done and refused to try.

On Friday morning I was trying to be really nice and do fun things while getting ready to go to Kanab (I feel like I have been really grumpy lately.) We made cookies and I let him watch his new favorite movie Gnomeo and Juliet (SO cute!) after we got them cooking. In between the batches I would be packing or doing laundry. He had been following me around for most of it, then decided to just stay in my room and watch the movie. Well when I came back in there from taking a batch of cookies out of the oven this is what I found:

He had found a brand new thing of Desitin that I had forgot to put up after using it on Aspen (about 5 minutes earlier) and spread it all over him! It was even on his teeth! It was a pain to get off, I had to wipe it all off with wipes then also give him a bath. I had to wash his hair twice to get it all out!

I know all this is just a phase (terrible 2's) but I would love for him to not have these phases, cuz other than him being naughty and defiant I absolutely love the age he is. It's so fun to get to see him growing and showing how smart his is getting! He knows pretty much all of his letters and some of his numbers, he usually knows how to count til 10 (sometimes he just starts spouting of random numbers), and it's not just memory of the numbers cuz he can tell me how many fingers he holds up. He can also tell me how to get to my sister and sister in laws houses, and he knows where to turn to go to Ben's work (or at least where Ben starts out his mornings) and I think he has only been there once or twice! He is just amazing and I love him so so much!!

Lake Trip!

We went out to Sand Hollow on Saturday to test out Ben's dads boat and make sure it was running good for when we take it to the annual trip to Delta. It worked great and we had tons of fun!

If you look through the window you can see Hunter... He's in a pink Barbie life jacket! We haven't gotten him a new one this year yet and that was the only one of the boat that fit him. He didn't care at all!

Ben and Hunter tubing, if you look close you can see that Hunter has his hand up in the air too! He really liked it until they were done and Ben pulled him off the tube, he didn't like being in the open water!

The two babies slept through the whole ride! The second we stopped the boat both of their eyes popped right open, it was so funny! This is Lucas (Ben's sister's baby boy) can you see him!

And here is Aspen (this was Hunter's life jacket that he used the last 2 years obviously he really needs a new one if his baby sister can fit in it.) Baby life jackets are so funny, I kept feeling her back to make sure she was breathing since she looked so smothered!

Aspen looking up at her Dad, I love this picture!

She didn't mind this water, Ben's parents have a pool and they had just gotten it up for the year, while we were getting ready to go I put her feet in the pool and she instantly started screaming! It was so funny cuz she loves her baths, the water was a little cold since it was just filled up but I didn't think it was that cold! I of course did it 2 more times cuz it was too funny!

Here she is all lathered up in sunscreen, she was not liking the wind at all! I think her favorite part was the boat ride and she slept through the whole thing!

I thought this picture was so funny, it looks like I'm trying to take her head off or something, I was putting sunscreen on. Oh and in making sure to get my kids covered in sunscreen I forgot to put any on me! I had a little extra on my hands that I rubbed on my arms then was going to finish the rest of me and forgot, so I have some nice strips that are burnt, and my shoulders/neck are fried!

Blessing Day!

We had a great day yesterday! Lots of family and food! We had Cafe Rio style burritos for lunch after church, fruit w/my favorite cream cheese/mallow dip, chips & salsa, and some yummy desserts brought by my sister in laws!!

Here is Hunter all ready for church!

And Aspen in her dress. I had bought her some tights to wear, they said 0-12 months size, but they didn't even get close to fitting on her feet! They probably would have fit her thighs perfect but I didn't even try, so she got socks instead.

Talee, Aspen, and Hunter. Brandi and her family went back to her ward for church, but Talee HAD to stay with us. Hunter dragged her into nursery with him, literally. And when I told him that she wasn't going to stay in there with him he had a totally come apart and threw himself on the floor screaming! What a monster.... So my parents decided they would take Talee home after the luncheon. Her and Hunter played for quite a while after the luncheon, until we decide Hunter was out of control (he kept throwing tantrums if anyone even looked at him.) So we laid him down for a nap.

Aspen was so good all day! She sat in this chair (in between people holding and snuggling her) and kept going in and out of sleep as we all talked and ate around her! She also slept through the blessing, which Ben was very grateful for!

She kept grabbing the front ruffly stuff on her dress, so cute!

Here we all are! Ben hadn't realized I wanted a picture of all of us and the second we walked in the door took of his church clothes. Hunter played with his hair during church so it doesn't really look done anymore. I guess that's what I get for taking the pics after church.

2 months!

Aspen is now 2 months old! Wow it goes by so fast! We had her doctors appointment yesterday and she weighs 10 lbs 11 oz and was 21 in long! She starting to get chubby, and she is very smiley! She also loves to talk (coo) at me and loves when I do all the noises back!

I love these smiles!!

And she now LOVES her baths! Even if she is ready to eat and crying, the second I put her in the bath she instantly stops crying!

Hunter is getting so big, when he's laying down he almost reaches both ends of the tub!

My uncle got married on the 13th and had a way cute reception. Instead of a sign in book they had a photo booth with dress up stuff, after you had your pictures taken they would glue a copy of them in a book and you would write your message next to the picture, and they also gave everyone in the picture a copy of the picture to take home. So fun! Here is my parents picture.

And all of us sisters.

My dad thought they needed a picture of Aspen, he couldn't convince me or Kira to do it again, so he took her. There was a TV screen on the outside so everyone not in the booth can see whats going on, it was pretty funny. The guy running the booth told him he needed to sit down and get in the picture, but he didn't want to be in it (that's why there is only one that you can see him in, the guy had just told him to sit.)

Ben and Hunter were at Fathers and sons this weekend so they didn't get to come, but they had a good time camping! Hunter did come back with a nice cut on his head though, they didn't hook the bungee cords under the bed of the tent trailer and Hunter was playing on the bed and fell through. He hit his head on the tongue of the trailer, it was a good sized cut and in his hair so we went and got some New Skin Liquid Bandage to try to seal it. It got stuck in his hair and he pulled on it to where his hair was sticking straight out of the side of his head Sunday morning! It looked so funny I had him soak in the tub for like a half hour but I still couldn't get it to go all the way down for church! I wish I would have remembered to get a picture.

Afternoon nap.

This was after an afternoon of playing at the park, they have rubber stuff instead of wood chips, and apparently it was quite dirty, cuz he had black stuff all over him!

Stretch... and fall back to sleep.

Ben slid twice in his softball game and got this. It was finally starting to heal up and last night he slid and opened it up again! Also notice Hunter's toes, he decided Grandma's stamp pad was meant to color his toes.

Our porch, I had swept it off the day before, Hunter put the dirt pile on their, and all the black things are:

Earwigs. They are horrible this year! We just got sprayed 2 weeks ago and everyday our porch looks like this! And we got quite a few in the house to, I hate them! Birds have started coming onto our porch to eat them, so we get a lot of bird poop on our porch to. It's disgusting, I hope this doesn't last all summer!
