The Essence of Pink!

I have decided that baby girls are the essence of pink... Babies in general are just pink all over and then add all the pink outfits and there you go! Hunter has been so funny about the added pink in our house, he gets excited when he sees pink things now. Everything pink is Aspen's and just about anything else is his, or so he says!

Every since he's been able to walk he has been helping me with the laundry... or hindering in most cases. So his job (to get him out of the way for a minute) is to throw away the lint. He loves it, he is so funny and gets excited about it! Now that there is sometimes pink lint it's even cooler!!

This toad was outside Ben's parents house on Sunday. We told Hunter to catch it and he basically dove on top of it, it was so funny! Then he didn't even dare to pick it up, until Grandpa did first. Then he tried pinching the smallest amount of it he could, we finally convinced him to grab the whole thing, but he's still kind of pinching it! Now every time we go over he looks for "his frog."

Aspen is just getting so big! I have gotten her to laugh a few more times, but the person she loves to laugh at is her brother, sometimes she will just laugh if she sees him! And yes the poor girl has to be in mostly blue stuff, i.e. bumbo, swing, and bouncer, oh well it's my favorite color anyways!

I gave her rice cereal for the first time tonight (it may be a little early but she's almost 4 months and she just stares at everything we eat!) The first few bites she almost seemed like she didn't notice she was doing anything, it was kinda funny!

Then she started getting into it more, in this picture she is leaning forward trying to get it. Her legs are up doing crunches trying to get it! And don't you just love how she holds onto her skirt! She does it all the time I think it is so cute!

I can't believe how big they are both getting!!!

Delta!!!

Oh Delta how we love you!! We have so much fun every time we go to Ben's parents cabin on the reservoir in Delta. When I loaded my pictures from my camera their were 144 pictures of the trip! So you get to see a ton of pictures, I tried to narrow it down a bit but there were just so many fun ones!

The starting of the trip was a bit rocky... Ben's sister and her family went to the cabin Thursday afternoon and we decided to follow with the boat that evening. We were hoping to leave around six but didn't end up leaving til 8. We made it to Cedar a little before dark luckily since we had to stop and get an adapter for the light hook ups for the trailer. We also finally got us some dinner when we got to Cedar, then we were off again. Hunter talked to us FOREVER! Finally I convinced him to play the quiet game and he fell asleep shortly after, but that wasn't til probably 10:30 or so. While we were on our way up Ben's dad called and let us know the spare tire wasn't in the boat and that he would bring it up the next day when they came... At 11:30 one of the tires blew on the trailer. It's tires were a 5 lug and ours on are trail blazer are 6 lug. So we called our brother in law and his happened to be 5 lug so he headed out to find us and use his spare... Once he got there (we were only about half an hour away from Delta so not too bad) his tire didn't fit. So we had to leave the boat there over night. Well Hunter had woken up a few minutes after we stopped and was a little whiny but not too bad... until we started going again. He screamed the entire way to Delta. A half hour usually isn't too bad but with a screaming kid we were all quite grumpy by the time we got to the cabin. Luckily he went to bed pretty good once we got there, and other than that the trip was great! The boys woke up in the morning went and got the tire fixed then got the boat and there were no other mishaps! We came home Tuesday afternoon, so it was a great almost week!
So here is all the fun of the trip:

Hunter was taking pictures (anytime he sees the camera he always grabs it and starts snapping away) and captured this funny face!

Chelsee came out for a couple days with us then headed back to be with her family. She also opened her mission call Thursday night and is going to New York Rochester mission Spanish speaking!

Jeremy helping with the babies :)

We wore this kid out pretty much everyday! We couldn't get him to take a nap most of the time so by dinner time he was exhausted. I think this was Friday, he didn't sleep in at all after the crazy night, in fact he woke up a little earlier than usual. He was falling asleep trying to eat his dinner, it was so funny! I was just watching him laughing as he would sway a little and try to pry his eyes open, then he did a little whimper and Ben saw what was happening and went and laid him down.

This is changing his bum out of a swim diaper into a regular one, yes he slept through it. He was barely awake as Ben carried him to the tent and the second he set him down he was out!

Even slept through wiping his dinner off his mouth.

Here he is finally tucked in, he only slept for maybe an hour and was back up running around. Power nap!

Ben's dad, Ben and Hunter all taking naps on Saturday.

Oh wait me and Aspen were too!

And Logan! This poor guy broke his arm while we were at Chelsee's watching her open her mission call on Thursday. He fell off the tramp while all the adults were inside getting food, Chelsee's aunt saw him and went to the door saying that a boy had a broken arm (she doesn't know any of us so didn't know which of ours he was) I happened to be right by the door and peaked out to see who it was... It was horrible! His bone hadn't broken through but his arm was kind of like an S, I of course panicked and started calling to Joslyn that it was hers. They all started at me like I was crazy cuz I wasn't making sense, I finally got out that it was Logan with a broken arm and they jumped up and headed to the hospital. After they left I realized that I totally made the situation worse since I panicked. It's a broken arm, you don't have to rush, it's not going to get worse! But well now we know that Ben definitely has to be around if anything like that happens with our kids, cuz if I was panicking that bad when it wasn't even my kid who knows what I will be like when it's mine!!

Here is Grandma helping all the grand kids light snakes. Gavin and Sheena couldn't come so Ben's parents brought Brylee with them so that she could spend the 4th with her cousins.

Hunter and Logan playing in the water!

Going for a boat ride, and Joslyn had all the kids wanting to sit by her! So cute!

Hunter took a 5 min power nap on the boat.

Ben wake boarding, he was annoyed that this pic showed him letting go of the rope, but it was the best timing to show how high he gets, all the other pics showed him started or landing a jump.

Yep that's me!! I finally stayed up for more than 2 seconds! Still didn't stay up for long but oh well, getting better every time!

Hunter is so funny! Last year he loved the fireworks, this year not so much. He hid in the cabin and would shoot his gone every time one went off!

What a cute goof!

This cute little guy lives near the cabin and brought his train over so that the kids could have a ride. They loved it! He even had a train whistle that he blew when he started to go. I don't know if you can tell but he pulled it with his four wheeler.

Hunter eating s'mores for the first time! He only took a couple bites then gave it to me, he liked just regular marshmallows better! He's crazy!

Here we are at the parade.

Hunter getting candy, and being silly with his bag.

He loved all the tractors!

This is how Aspen spent most of the parade, asleep on Grandpa's lap!

We went to the park after and let the kids play on the bounce house stuff, they had a blast!

Ha Ha, Hunter got his head stuck in the railing around the porch! What a good mom to take a picture instead of help him :) Our camera had got set on a close up setting on accident so that's why it's fuzzy.

And finally grandma helped him out!

Happy Hunter at the derby! He loves going to Derby's, he is always so good at them!

It got kind of chilly and even sprinkled a little, perfect derby weather in my opinion! Hunter didn't get that the kids were trying to stay warm in the blanket, he just thought they were playing!

Here's how Aspen spent the whole derby! And I didn't even have to nurse her! Oh and by the way I made her 4th of July bow, I couldn't find one that had all 3 colors, so I figured I would attempt making one myself. It doesn't quite match her dress, but oh well she was patriotic.

This is our trip home, we were going to stop and get some food in Delta, but Hunter was asleep before we even got a couple blocks! Look at his right hand he's holding a piece of jerky...

He woke up slightly and started eating his jerky in his sleep!! What a funny kid!

Projects

I am horrible about ever finishing projects I start. Quite often I buy all the stuff to do something and either never finish it or it takes me years to finally finish it, but lately I've been project crazy! Here's what I've done:

I had so many headbands and bows that I decided I needed something to put them all on, so I made this. I really like how it turned out.

Here it is with some bows and headbands on it.

I made this car seat cover for my friend that had her baby a couple days before me. It was her very late baby shower present since I was on bed rest when she had the shower.

This picture shows the inside, not sure if you can tell but it has little pink polka dots on it.

And I made this one for my friends baby shower that was yesterday. The inside is just plain brown.

This is a blanket (it's folded up) that I made for me. We are headed to Delta for the 4th of July, they have an awesome demolition derby we go to every year. It goes on kind of long so I figured I most likely will end up having to feed Aspen while we are there. I have a nursing cover but figured people in the seats above me would probably be able to see down into it too since I can, so didn't want to use that. All my blankets are either pretty small or nice and fluffy so they would be hot. So this is a big light weight blanket! I usually try not to feed her in public places it really embarrasses me but you have to park so far away and then wait for her to eat, so I'd end up missing probably half of the derby if I go to the car. I have seen plenty of people that don't even cover up, they are crazy! So at least I'm making sure I'm completely covered.

This just makes me smile! Picking her nose and sucking her fingers all at once!!

Aspen's New Loves

I can not believe how fast she is learning new things!! I don't remember it going so fast with Hunter. She has 2 new found loves and I love them both! Here is the first:

She has been a finger/fist sucker since the beginning, but I think she finally decided which ones she like best! She still will get other fingers in there sometimes but she only sucks on them for a few seconds then bites them a couple times then is done, but when she gets these two... Amazing things happen! The other night I woke up with a start and looked at the clock wondering why she hadn't woken up yet. Then I heard it she was sucking on her fingers, so I figured she would want to nurse any minute but decided to just lay there til she did. Several minutes passed and she still hadn't cried out so I went to the bathroom, still nothing. I went to check on her and it was still too dark to see her so I felt her to see what fingers (or if she had her thumb) she had, and felt that it was those 2. She had her eyes closed so I decided I would just lay back down til she was ready. I ended up falling back to sleep for and hour and a half, which made it 8 hours that she slept! And most nights since then have been about that long, I'm loving it!

Her second love is to talk! First thing when she wakes up in the mornings is to give me big smiles and start cooing at me! She even has a rough time nursing quite often because she is wanting to talk! I finally got some video of it (she usually stops right when she sees the camera and stares at it instead) but I can't figure out how to get it loaded on here. I got it on the computer (for some reason the sound wasn't playing though) but it wouldn't let me load it on here (I was going to load it and see if the sound would work once it was on here) so sorry you don't get to see and hear it, it's WAY cute!!

She laughed for the first time today. It was to me making a hoarse laughing sound, she did it twice in a row then wouldn't do it again, so I didn't get any footage of that.

We spent the weekend in Kanab, while Ben and my brother played in a softball tournament in Page (a beat the heat tournament where they play during the night then sleep during the day then play more the next night.) They started Friday night and didn't get back to Kanab until 5:30 Sunday morning. Ben was exhausted he kept going in and out of sleep all day! It was pretty funny! He usually can't take naps at all and he had several!

Hunter is a trouble maker as usual, but we still love him! He fought bed time at my parents, he does at home too, but since the room we were staying in was downstairs he was able to be a lot sneakier about getting out of bed. The second night he even ended up taking his jammies off and pooping on the floor! Luckily for me the carpet in the room is all torn out cuz the water heater flooded and ruined it. Their was a spare piece of the old carpet left in the doorway, which is what he pooped on so I just threw it away instead of trying to clean it. He hasn't done this for a long time so it really frazzled me! I also realized tonight that he is holding his poop in for another excuse to get out of bed. We always have him go to the bathroom in the potty before he gets in the bath (which he is really good about but still won't go any other time of the day) and he ended up going #2 in the toilet tonight. Then about 5 minutes after I put him in his room he came out cuz he was poopy. What a stinker! I don't know how to fix this excuse cuz I had told him to try to go more while he was on the potty and he said no he was done and refused to try.

On Friday morning I was trying to be really nice and do fun things while getting ready to go to Kanab (I feel like I have been really grumpy lately.) We made cookies and I let him watch his new favorite movie Gnomeo and Juliet (SO cute!) after we got them cooking. In between the batches I would be packing or doing laundry. He had been following me around for most of it, then decided to just stay in my room and watch the movie. Well when I came back in there from taking a batch of cookies out of the oven this is what I found:

He had found a brand new thing of Desitin that I had forgot to put up after using it on Aspen (about 5 minutes earlier) and spread it all over him! It was even on his teeth! It was a pain to get off, I had to wipe it all off with wipes then also give him a bath. I had to wash his hair twice to get it all out!

I know all this is just a phase (terrible 2's) but I would love for him to not have these phases, cuz other than him being naughty and defiant I absolutely love the age he is. It's so fun to get to see him growing and showing how smart his is getting! He knows pretty much all of his letters and some of his numbers, he usually knows how to count til 10 (sometimes he just starts spouting of random numbers), and it's not just memory of the numbers cuz he can tell me how many fingers he holds up. He can also tell me how to get to my sister and sister in laws houses, and he knows where to turn to go to Ben's work (or at least where Ben starts out his mornings) and I think he has only been there once or twice! He is just amazing and I love him so so much!!

Lake Trip!

We went out to Sand Hollow on Saturday to test out Ben's dads boat and make sure it was running good for when we take it to the annual trip to Delta. It worked great and we had tons of fun!

If you look through the window you can see Hunter... He's in a pink Barbie life jacket! We haven't gotten him a new one this year yet and that was the only one of the boat that fit him. He didn't care at all!

Ben and Hunter tubing, if you look close you can see that Hunter has his hand up in the air too! He really liked it until they were done and Ben pulled him off the tube, he didn't like being in the open water!

The two babies slept through the whole ride! The second we stopped the boat both of their eyes popped right open, it was so funny! This is Lucas (Ben's sister's baby boy) can you see him!

And here is Aspen (this was Hunter's life jacket that he used the last 2 years obviously he really needs a new one if his baby sister can fit in it.) Baby life jackets are so funny, I kept feeling her back to make sure she was breathing since she looked so smothered!

Aspen looking up at her Dad, I love this picture!

She didn't mind this water, Ben's parents have a pool and they had just gotten it up for the year, while we were getting ready to go I put her feet in the pool and she instantly started screaming! It was so funny cuz she loves her baths, the water was a little cold since it was just filled up but I didn't think it was that cold! I of course did it 2 more times cuz it was too funny!

Here she is all lathered up in sunscreen, she was not liking the wind at all! I think her favorite part was the boat ride and she slept through the whole thing!

I thought this picture was so funny, it looks like I'm trying to take her head off or something, I was putting sunscreen on. Oh and in making sure to get my kids covered in sunscreen I forgot to put any on me! I had a little extra on my hands that I rubbed on my arms then was going to finish the rest of me and forgot, so I have some nice strips that are burnt, and my shoulders/neck are fried!
